trendy tuesday.

all about the ombre.

hi darlings! i don't necessarily feel bad for directing my audience to women, because let's be real.... i could name seventy three other things guys would rather be doing than reading a fashion blog. i have tried getting my male roommate into the whole thing, and i will never head the end of the sassy jokes having to do with my love for blogging and instagraming. and i don't think he is such a fan of me making his food pose for a picture before it is allowed to enter his mouth either.

as i told y'all before, i am trying to become more consistent with my blog writing. it sure is hard to keep up with it, but it is my summer goal! i did a few minor changes with the layout last night which was super fun. sitting outside of kaldi's in the missouri humidity was sure a treat. so i am now dedicating tuesdays to trend...otherwise known as trendy tuesdays. i have such a passion & love for new styles, or putting a twist on an old one. trends, schmends. i don't believe in them! my grandma told me the other day that she thinks jack rogers are kinda out of style, nope. i think if you are going to wear something and rock it, there is no such thing as them being "so last season." it's all about confidence, ladies.

borrowed from the boys.

Let's be real...we all go through those periods of time where we are either too busy or too lazy to wash the hair on top of the head.  Many of my friends use the baby powder trick, but I would rather just cover it up.  This is when baseball caps come in handy!  Not only are they effortlessly cute, they also serve as a way to express oneself.  The choice of hat says a lot about a person.  Whether they are representing their favorite sports team, rocking their monogram, or just sporting their favorite color combination...that creative cap is doing more than just covering the not so lovely locks underneath!

best thing since string cheese.

If you have been around me and my computer for more than 5 minutes, you have seen this wedding video. If not, lucky you, you are in for a real treat! I would be worried if my computer had a most visited website, because no doubt about it, this video would be numba one. Even before pinterest & netflix, like woah. {Told ya I wasn't kidding around Laura, please don't feel stalked!?} Mat Kearney's "where we gonna go from here," the peeps, the personal & witty wedding vows, the location (wonderful world's fair pavilion in the lou) & the hair. Girl you rocked it! Even after 73 views or so, I still giggle and tear up every. single. time. Now, I swear this isn't some random girl crush of mine, the bride was my bomb babysitter growing up. I thought I was like totes cool when she would come over, even though literally my mom was paying her to hang out with me. Props to ya for introducing me to sass, "shit," & shenanigans as a little squirt.

hype up your hair.

Embrace messy hair.

Do you ever get the feeling that you want to just cut off someone's hair and put it on your head? Yeah, me too. It's totes normal. I can't look at pictures of Lauren Conrad, the Olsen twins, or any pinterest princess with luscious locks without getting serious hair envy. I believe that your mane says a lot about yourself, and it is worth the slightly high cost of the hair products that help you define the 'do.
I have tested the waters when it comes to different styling products, & I made a list of my top five. Most of these are friendly to all hair types and can be found while splurgin' at sephora.

Moroccan Oil has been my partner in crime for over a year now. This is the only product of the five that I put in my hair every single day. It leaves your hair with a silky finish and has helped with my split ends. Also it always makes sure to leave my hair shinin' bright like a diamond.
I have never really been a hairspray kinda girl, but once I started using Bumble & Bumble's Thickening Hairspray, that quickly changed. It holds my waves in place without the crunchy feel, while adding volume without the bump it look.
I gave up straightening my hair this year and have gotten super tight with Bumble & Bumble's Surf Spray. I can now leave my apartment with wet hair after a few sprays of this guy. It gives my hair the "I just walked out of the ocean" kinda look and helps me out on days I am running late.
Not only is the drybar the best place on earth, but their new lines of products are the bomb. Everyone needs a good bottle of dry shampoo for the days you don't have time to shower, or are too hungover to do so.
I think I worship Josie Maran. She has got it going on. Her Argan Hair Mist is the perfect way to get your hair looking like a Free People model. Not to mention, her Argan Oil is the best moisturizer. Instead of using heat on your hair, squirt the Maran mist.
always keep your head up, your bikini on, and your hair as salty and wavy as possible. xx

nashville nut.

To say I am obsessed with the show Nashville would be the understatement of the year. I am well aware that I jumped on the bandwagon a bit late, but better late than never, am I right? I have always been severely intrigued with the southern lifestyle; including southern gentleman, the accents, cowboy boots, the whole sha-bang. In other words, Nashville is right up my alley.
Not only do they have the southern belle twang & attitudes, but the style and the hair is to die for. I don't think one girl can watch the show without fantasizing about Connie Britton's perfect locks. And man, does she make 45 look good or what? Her strawberry blonde curls are the reason dry bars are the talk of the town. I might just hit up one this weekend with a picture of Rayna Jaymes in hand :)
